Earth With An Internet Blanket.

Today, about 5-6 billion people don’t have access to the INTERNET. Google is doing something for the man kind. It’s planning to launch about 180 small small satellites in the space. These small satellites will help 2/3rd of the people with no internet get access to internet which is great. The project is gonna be organized in collaboration with Dutch satellite start-up O3b Networks Ltd. Its founder Greg Wyler is at the helm of this project. This project will approximately cost about 1 billion dollars. O3b had earlier launched satellite orbiters. 4 satellites in the year 2013 and they are planning to launch 4 more this year. What they want to do is bring HIGH SPEED Broadband connectivity to rural areas. They want Google’s assistance to create a constellation of satellites

These satellites would be very efficient because they are in the orbit of the planet which is lower than the conventional satellite. These O3b satellites are gonna fly at a 9000kms whereas the geostationary communications satellites fly at height of 36000kms from the surface of the earth. They having a low altitude helps in decreasing the data delay from 638 milliseconds (on average) to 150 milliseconds of a round trip that’s between the satellite and the station. This is more or less and add on, an extension of Google’s Project Loon. The Loon project has balloons which are solar powered. They fly at a height of 20 kms from the surface of Earth. They fly in the stratosphere and use the stratospheric winds for navigation on the left and right side of the equator. Check out this video to see how it’s done:

Google has acquired Titan Aerospace. This company has invented the Solora 50 which is drone but solar powered. Soloara 50 can be used for improving telecom services across the globe. The drone is huge, like really huge. It has a wingspan of 50 meters and is 15 meters in length and fly at 104 kilometres an hour. So there are high hopes here.
Google isn’t the only big player in this broadband expansion game. Mark Zuckerberg the founder of Facebook want something similar to happen with the internet.org initiative. Mark says that the internet is a basic human right and we cannot disagree.
Google and Facebook both earn from the Internet. So the more people connected to the internet the better it is for these companies. There are still more than 5 billion people who cannot access the internet. Imagine the insane profits Google and Facebook can make from these special projects. So more for their own profit than for the man kind. Although they are self-interested venture these companies will be doing a lot of good for the people across the globe.

Mac OS X Yosemite

The Mac OS X Yosemite is the tenth version of Mac OS. This is the first time iOS and Mac OS can interact seamlessly in the Apple ECO System. Apple has done a lot of affords this time. Apple has taken the Mac OS experience to a next level and revolutionised the way iOS and Mac OS walk hand in hand.  You can’t say Apple has copied stuff but this is clear that Apple was inspired from the technologies which are already existing. With Mac OS Mavericks Apple stopped naming its name after Cats, instead it started naming its OS after the name of cites of California.
Now here are a few features of Mac OS X Yosemite to get excited about.

HANDOFF:
This is definitely a step in the right direction. If you are working on a project the iPad will recognizes it and it will prompt you abou
t the same. So that you can leave your mac and continue your work on your iPad without waiting for a sec. The same goes with your email. Start writing an email on you iPhone and your Mac will sense it ask you if you would like to type on its spacious keyboard. This is something other software and hardware manufacturers should adapt as soon as possible.

INSTANT HOTSPOT:
This feature would be like a blessing for people who have a spring in their butt.  As they’ll be moving here and there very ofte
n leading to constant connecting and disconnecting cycle of the Wi-Fi connections. The Mac will identify your phone automatically and without any tweaking a hotspot with your iPhone is set up and is ready to go.
SMS AND PHONE ACCESS FROMvMAC’S:
This feature interlinks digital devices like the iPad, iPhone and the Mac. Apple is the first software and hardware manufacturer to take advantage of these features thanks to its unique eco system. You can answer calls and reply to SMS from any apple device which is liked
. With the integration with Yosemite you can send and receive text messages and phone calls from various0 Apple devices. You can even dial a number you see on a website with safari on your Mac.
ICLOUD DRIVE:
Now you no more need need third party apps like Dropbox or Google drive, the iCloud is not built in the Finder of the Mac OS. The files and apps appear in the same way how they were arranged on your devices. iCloud Driv
e works on both Mac OS and also on Windows (Cheers to Apple.) The apps you use also get individual folders on the drive. This update will more or less fulfils Late Steve Job’s dream to destroy the Dropbox.

SAFARI:
Safari has got a face job done and indeed looks gorgeous. Safari now has a slimmer address bar to maximize browsing area. The favourite links will have to be accessed by
clicking on the search bar. A drop down menu appears and shows the sites. Safari is now integrated with spotlight search too. In order to give better results and give competition to Google in the browser too, somewhere Google has been a king since decades. The Tab View is the best feature on the new Safari. Apple has done good job in the animation department, no doubt about that.

SPOTLIGHT:
It’s like Spotlight has been given tablets. It’s on freaking steroids. When you click the magnifying glass icon a new search bar opens right in the middle of the screen. It is very fast and super convenient in the way of opening Apps and files. While you sear
ch for a file it gives a preview of the content of the document too which comes handy. Apple has not only integrated the internet search ability on the Spotlight but this also allows more in-depth search results for your query and would completely make Google useless on the Mac.
DESIGN:
Mac OS X Yosemite is all about translucency. From the Docks, it is especially noticeable in the drop down menus and the finder. New toolbars and windows are giving it a fresh new look. For people who feel this is a lil distracting can have the Dark Mode ON. The clean and consistent design throughout the OS give
s a sense of continuity which is great. The new today view in Notification Center gives you a quick look at everything you need to know now like upcoming events, reminders, stocks, weather, and more.
IT’S FREE:
Like the earlier version of Mac OS Apple is releasing Mac OS X Yosemite this fall and it will also be FREE. Apple will let you be a part of the Public Beta program for the OS X Yosemite. Though there will be some glitches, but it will give the fan-boy a feel of being an Apple developer.

Samsung’s Android Killer – Galaxy Z with Tizen OS

Finally, Samsung is ready for Tizen. The company is about to release an alternative OS to Android and Samsung calls it Tizen. The Samsung Z is gonna be the first phone which would run Tizen out of the box. Samsung is trying to move away from Android based phones which a big step that Samsung is taking. Tizen is going to be an operating system which could be used across Samsung’s Ecosystem and that is what Samsung wants. A compressed version of Tizen was earlier used by Samsung in its Galaxy Gear 2 which has a few good features too. The Samsung Z will be the first non-android flagship from Samsung. The phone was going to be released at the World Mobile Congress this year but it couldn't make it.
Samsung is the largest and one of the best Android manufacturer of all time. Its departure from Android in the future might result in favour of Tizen OS.  Right now Android is leading the smart phone OS war and may be even in the future android might be the king of the smart phone operating systems. Now let’s see if Samsung’s huge step is a step in the right direction or not.

Samsung Z’s Tizen OS looks more or else like TouchWiz only. Samsung said Tizen OS has faster boot up time and also better multi-tasking than other Androids. They also promised great 2D and 3D performance from this new OS. It also has better scrolling and rendering performance for web surfing. The current Tizen version 2.2 looks as if it’s a close cousin of the Android Jellybean with a few changes. There is a big reason why Samsung is doing a huge experiment. Tizen OS is capable of multi-platform integration. It is going to be used on mobiles. It has been used on wearables and TV’s too.  Samsung recently released the SDK for developers to create apps for the Tizen based TV’s.Samsung is the largest and one of the best Android manufacturer of all time.
